Today I went along to the opening of the 55th Annual Shoalhaven Art Society Exhibition at the Shoalhaven Regional Gallery in Nowra.
The exhibition draws entries from Australia wide, with a particular focus on local artist talent from the Shoalhaven. With over 150 works on exhibition and for sale, there's certainly something for everyone’s artistic tastes and preferences. The Shoalhaven is certainly abundant with lots of creative talent!
I entered my artwork Octopus’s Garden into the exhibition and she looked beautiful in the gallery. She had a wall all to herself and was looking spectacular under lights in a great position.
I took my son and Hubby along to have a look, and we enjoyed discussing the various artworks as we wandered around, picking out our favourites and why they liked them. Its always fun to see artworks through a kids eyes.
On the way out you have the opportunity to vote for the people's choice award. The Gallery staff asked the lady in front of us who her favourite was and when she said "Sheree Smith's was my favourite", my mind was blown! They had some more discussion about what entrant number I was, who was and if I was in the youth category, at which time I piped in and said, "That's me!"
They were both so thrilled that I was there and the lady got to meet the painter of her favourite piece. For me, it was so fun having people discuss my work unknowingly in my presence. I was absolutely shocked that someone liked my piece the most out of a room of such experienced, technically brilliant artists! It certainly made my day.
If your keen to have a look for yourself, the Exhibition runs from 3-24 September at the Shoalhaven Regional Art Gallery.
